synopsis

An attempt at the realization of image and icon, painting and word. Full color eight by ten inch plates tell half the tale - the other half is expressed in the prose narrative that inhabits and becomes one with them. The text is remembered as a visual object, and so each partner - the graphic and the novel - brings new information to the reader. A true visual work of places unseen, and of journeys we all take. Set in a world suggested by Aldous Huxley, the narrative focuses on the resurrection of Minamoto Yoritomo - Japan's first Shogun - and that young man's recreation of himself in a future of revolution and social upheaval. Words of my Voice envisions who we are in an age when all information seems to come from without and the crisis that occurs when one realizes that knowledge of substance comes from within.
